Hello 2025

Best Laid Plans

Hello 2025! I love the kick-off of a new year. I get so excited by planning, organizing, and goal-setting. This year, in particular, has me hyped because I officially launched Pinto Prose & Publicity at the end of 2024 and I am thrilled to really focus on and scale it this year. There are so many things that go into launching a business, even one that’s smaller, so I’ll definitely be sharing some tips and checklists as I dive into all the minutiae.

I finally decided to take the plunge and start my business, Pinto Prose & Publicity, because while I have wanted to work with books for so many years, I wasn’t sure how to break into the industry.

Of course, the business aspect is a big reason why I started this website, but I would be remiss to leave out all the other book-related fun in my everyday world, so here’s a bit about what you can expect:

  • Book reviews (of ARCs and already-published novels)

  • Book spotlights and features, including highlights of books coming out

  • Author Q&As

  • Spotlights on what I’m reading and watching, including monthly wrap-ups

  • Tips and checklists for editors and authors, both on the editorial process as well as media relations and amplifying your audience

My Background & The Business

My background is in public relations, and while working some soul-sucking agency jobs in NYC, I always turned to books as an escape and an outlet. In 2014, I started a book review blog and began receiving ARCs (advance reader copies) from publishers and authors to read and review their books before publication day.

I love working with publishers and authors to promote their books and have always kept my eye out for ways to make it a part of my day-to-day. In October, I came across a free 5-day webinar hosted by Morgan at Paper Raven Books and it completely enthralled me. I’ve been editing books in my head for YEARS while reading these ARCs, but this webinar gave me a glimpse at the potential to make my dream a reality and continue to help authors along the way! Excitedly, I jumped into her Kickstarter course and decided to soft launch my business, already gathering several referrals for editing in 2025 and even securing my first client!

I would be remiss to completely ignore my skills in public relations though, especially after working heavily with a few book clients over the past two years and building up a pretty thorough podcast media list. So, I decided to combine the two facets of my skills and passion to offer both editorial and PR services.

I specialize in fiction books, beginning mostly with thrillers, romance, and fantasy. In my market research, I also heard from many indie authors that these types of services are often unrealistic for them due to cost, so I plan to offer my services at extremely low price points. I want to work with new authors who, similarly, are just trying to make their dreams happen by writing and sharing the stories living in their heads.

As I continue booking out the spring, I am currently offering a sample edit of your first chapter and/or a consultation call. You can email me directly with any questions at [email protected] or fill out my interest form: https://bit.ly/pintoprosepublicity-interest to set up a time to chat.

I’ll be honest, I am going to do my absolute best to be consistent with my posts and plan them in advance as much as possible. However, as we all know, even the best-laid plans hit speedbumps. All I can do is be as transparent as possible and I know that as a mom of two little ones with a full-time job, this sometimes happens more often than we’d like to admit.
